I just came across these images today which supposedly are ID tags for parts taken at a company (Flexible Metal Inc) that is supplying exhaust components for the JL.
There's one for the "2.2L JL" and another for the "3.0L JL" which I think are for the Euro and NA market respectively?
If so...
I would go for the straight 6 diesel too but I think "working on" means it will not be available at launch if the JL gets it at all. So i'm thinking we wont see any diesels until 2019 earliest anyhow.
1. I would think not as it is engine specific and the 2018 JK is not going to get any engine changes. It's also said that it will require new larger battery/vehicle monitors. I doubt FCA is going to commit more R&D just for the last year of the JK.
2. Again, doubt it. I think someone (Milous?)...
For what it's worth Allpar is saying there is evidence that FCA is working on a straight 6 diesel engines that could make its way to the JL/JT Wrangler, though that last bit seems more speculation than anything. I wish this whole diesel scandal could be behind us and we'd have some clear answers...
I sort of expected that but willing to wait and see. If it's a stretched JL with at least 6' bed I would think long and hard about it. Good towing rating is key too. That's where it needs to separate itself from the Wrangler.
Keep us posted please! I can hold off until summer but if closer to winter I may give in and look at a RAM 1500. I'm hoping the JT is a serious pickup and not one of these JK conversions out there now.
Order bank usually opens 2 months before start of production. For the 2016 and 2017 Wrangler that meant order bank opened in July for a September production start.
A lot of pent up demand for the diesel in the states. Since the 3.6L is going to basically carry over and I see the 4 cyl as mainly for the mass public commuters, the diesel is the main draw. Just wish we didn't have to wait 2 more years for it (based on that powerpoint that was leaked).
My thinking too. Production is usually right around early Sept. Apparently JL production won't start until late next year so it could be just a few months overlap. We'll see.
Awesome renders can't wait to see how close these are (I bet pretty close).
The truck is great looking no doubt but I do hope for the production JT they do a little more than what has already been tried in the aftermarket. I want it to look more unique than a Wrangler with a flatbed. Hopefully...
Beside the front grille of the clay model and how rounded the hood is, I really like this concept actually.
The new roof will get some resistance from long time enthusiasts but I think at the end of the day most people will appreciate the new design for its ease of use and practicality. It...
I wish they made it two panels instead of three. The crossbar between the first and second panel is going to be an eyesore and take away from a totally open air feel. Also wish the third panel extended farther back to the very edge right before the third brake light. Interested to see if this is...
It's missing a lot of the elements we've already seen on the prototype spy shots (grille design, wrap up front bumper, turn signals on front of fenders) but it also shows lots of new designs we've seen on the prototypes - raked windshield, foglight position, hood bulge. And I bet the roof and...
