This would be me.....and I was looking at the 4th or 5th gen. Would not buy a new one for multiple reasons. And yes, you are correct, the Jeep is one of a kind and mine has been flawless except for the recalls, that, to your point, cause few and far between issues. Some of my needs\wants have...
The other factor to consider is it neither, and, if the wiring is showing cuts or frayed, is there another component that is rubbing against the wiring making it look suspect when there is potentially more than one issue. Guess its just another day in the car world.
Every car has its recalls. Just sucks that I've had 5 in 2.5 years. Was looking at 4 Runner's anyway as an Overland vehicle and another Wrangler as a crawler.
1 - Stella is probably covering their arse on this. Bet not all get replaced, but a good number came from the same manufacturer.
2 -The builds started during the covid era where there were shortages. More than likely they got a large batch of bad parts. Same parts were stored and used over the...
Any lift on it? Anything rubbing against the front bumper plastic skid plate and catching? Only happening on turns so could be when the trackbar is angling out, its "pushing" against the skid and forcing its way on top of it. I have a spacer lift and that happens on mine.
Which begs to question, are people more dissatisfied with the dealer or the brand. With the amount of recalls on the 4xe's, may have people taking their frustration out on the dealer. Not saying this is the case or the the only issue, but could account for some of it.
Pre purchase inspection doesn't mean you crawling under and looking for rust. It means taking it to a third party mechanic (which you are legally allowed to do) that you trust and having them do an inspection.
Coworker and I were just talking about this a couple of weeks ago. But it was more along the lines of when does Sirius XM stop their auto service and manufactures stop providing sat capable vehicles since you have it all on your phone now. Sort of like they no longer install CD players. The only...
This is on my short list of I decide not to go with the Rubi. I dont think Im missing much with having a 4.1 tcase with what I do but the bigger axles, 4.10 gearing and rear locker is a nice to have when needed. The negative is that those only come in the 24+ models. I was looking at something...
This pretty much sums up why I wont be keeping it. And even if I could get it at value, afraid of the headaches down the road with parts and wear and tear.
Currently have 24 4xe Willys that is a lease. It's goes back at the end of the year. Trying to decide on a Rubi or get a sport and upgrade it over the next few years. I do some light wheeling but will be taking more trips to the west to do some BOH trails. I like the 4.10 gears on D44s with the...
You can try the Teraflex but I had issues with them after my first time disconnecting. Had one actually pop off a couple of times while driving because of the tension of how they are mounted. And yes, I did it correctly. Now I just have my OEM links back on, disconnect them and zip tie them up...
