Friday is almost here, so let's talk Jeep maintenance.

Everyone seems to have their own maintenance routine. Some people are constantly checking fluids, greasing components, and sticking to strict service schedules. Others keep things pretty simple. Personally, I think one of the easiest things you can do for any vehicle is keep it out of the blazing sun and heavy rain whenever possible. Less UV exposure, less weather damage, and less fading over time.

What about you? What maintenance items do you stay on top of? And are there any maintenance mistakes that you think Jeep owners should avoid?

Let's hear your tips, habits, and lessons learned.

Once I passed the age of 60 I decided that my days of crawling under vehicles were over. But I'll get out and wash both Jeeps when they need it. And I applied ceramic coating to both. Man, was that a chore.

Well, being old and having had a stroke a few years ago anything I do feels like a major accomplishment even though the tasks are not difficult. I check the oil every Friday, keep it clean and I do change the windshield wipers, air and cabin filters when needed. I would love to change the oil but that won’t happen. I do enjoy watching how to videos on YouTube installing lifts, etc, does that count for anything?

Only have 900 miles on mine and at 79 YO I'm going to attempt oil changes and tire rotations. I'll prolly try it once since I'm used to tire rotations on my Subaru. These 285/70s look a bit heavier.

19 JLUS at 110k miles. All basic maintenance done by me. Spark plugs / oil cooler paid an independent to do since I don't have a garage. Outside of tearing down the engine I do everything.

18 JLUR @ 47k miles. I do simple stuff not requiring special tools (air filters, tire rotation, battery replacements, gearbox fluids, did fluids). Oil changes at the local shop where I take all my vehicles, partly so I don't have to mess with the used oil, mostly because they also do an inspection and occasionally find something.

The basics change oil/filter twice a yr spring & fall, i drive 10,000 miles @ most, I use a fumoto valve on oil pan, Much easier than trying to wrestle off the plug each time

Just dont overtighten the oil filter housing cap

Air easy\cabin filter is a PITA but doable & wipers

Otherwise, 5 tire rotation Spring & fall FREE from tire dealer

Alignment spring & fall, I Bought the lifetime Plan from firestone 3 yrs ago For $189.00, So far so good, Ive made my money back easily when they usually charge $119.00 each time otherwise

Everything else goes to a Tech

Me? Nada. I take my JL and my wife's GC to our local garage every 6-months for oil change and other routine scheduled maintenance. We've been taking our cars there for 10-12 years.

The basic stuff. 2020 JLU Sahara app 48,000 miles.

But.... wondering if you all have changed (or had it changed) your coolant and your automatic transmission fluid?

I do all of the maintenance myself, except for tire rotations and balance. Discount Tire does this at no charge. Also, I didn't want to spend $30,000 for a Hunter Road Force Elite balancer machine.

'23 with 24K miles. I got six "free" oil changes/inspections/tire rotations from the dealer when I bought it and I still have one remaining. I have changed air filters and done the AUX battery bypass. When the dealer "freebies" are done I don't know if I'll keep going back to them or start tackling it myself.
