So, after reading about what others have built for platforms and sweating over my rusty woodworking skills, I finally bit the bullet and designed my own to be super simple and easy to install/remove. It was all done from one sheet of 3/4” maple plywood that cost $89 at Lowe’s. I made a template out of cardboard and made a few adjustments once I traced it onto the plywood. Below is the finished platform with the carpet I chose because it was $14 at Lowe’s.

The hardest part was figuring out how to support the front. I used scrap from the same sheet of plywood at a height of 9”. Then attached everything using pocket hole screws. I also used a strip across the underside to fill in a gap and make it more firm.

I opted to leave in the 40% seat and keep access to the rear cup holders.

It’s not attached to anything, the weight holds it in place and access to the rear storage is easy by just lifting the rear of the platform. The platform doesn’t shift, squeak or rattle; nice and quiet. The real beauty of this design is I did not have to pull out anything but the 60% seat. The carpet and rear floor mat stay where they are. I can pull this out and reinstall the rear seat at anytime. The notch on the rear drivers side is to accommodate a bottle opener I mounted next to my tailgate table.

I still need both my seats but when the kids are gone in a couple years I would love to do something like that. Well done!
Thanks for the love! Yeah, my daughter is grown up so I can do pretty much what I want with the back of the Jeep. I still can’t justify the full cost of a Goose Gear platform, although I’d love to have that set-up. My full cost for materials came in around $150, so I’m tickled it turned out as well as it did. ?

Nice job! You could put a 3" piece of foam (cut to fit) in there and get a very good night's sleep.

Great job. I currently have the full width version of your platform. That is, it removes both rear seat sections and provides a platform for the hunting dogs.

I was thinking of making it so I could have one rear seat exactly like you did. IIRC, there's an issue with supporting the 40% seat, at least with my 2018. Can you explain what you had to do to support the seat?

Wouldn’t the 60% seat delete bracket work? Or was there still an issue using that? I’ve received mine, but haven’t had time to install it yet.

Sorry, I guess I don't know what a 60% delete bracket is.
