Statement: Jeep® Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator Fire Risk

June 9, 2026 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is recalling an estimated 1,076,999 U.S.-market vehicles to inspect, and if necessary, repair or replace the wiring harness and/or electric hydraulic power steering pump.

An internal investigation determined that certain model-year 2021-2025 Jeep® Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator vehicles may have an electrical connection issue in the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring. In rare circumstances, this may cause combustible materials to overheat, potentially leading to a vehicle fire.

Out of an abundance of caution, FCA US is taking this action and advising owners of these vehicles to park away from structures or other vehicles until the remedy is obtained.

Affected customers will be notified by first-class mail when they can schedule service. FCA US is working diligently to accelerate remedy availability and anticipates a solution no later than July. The company urges owners to follow the instructions on their recall notices. Customers with additional questions or concerns can call customer care at 1-800-853-1403 or visit recalls.mopar.com for more information.

Additional vehicles will be subject to recall in Canada (est. 106,258), Mexico (est. 23,704) and markets outside North America (est. 124,297).

Just read an article in the Detroit Free Press that 1 million plus 2021 through 2025 Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators now have a recall for electric hydraulic power steering wiring harness potential fire hazard. Jeep said dont park it in the garage until corrected. They are working on a fix. I finally got snagged on a recall if I am reading it right. My first. It did say it has happened on rare occasions ( like once ?) Imagine 1 million trips to the dealer. Somebody read it and double check me if I got it right

Luck for us it's "only" those made in the United States, right? My skepticism of the reliability of what's being reported increases dramatically when they make statements like that.

Matyok said owners of model year 2021-2025 Wranglers and Gladiators made in the United States should have the wiring harnesses and electric hydraulic power steering pumps of their vehicles inspected. Both parts might need to be repaired or replaced.

None of my previous vehicles ever had a single recall mentioning they should be kept away from buildings & other vehicles due to spontaneous vehicle combustion. Meanwhile Stella is working on what, their 4th major fire hazard recall?

Great. I now have 3 vehicles with a recall with no solution … Ford F150, BMW K1600, and now my Wrangler.

Has anyone received an official notice?

Manufacturer Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)

Components BACK OVER PREVENTION

Potential Number of Units Affected: 16

Summary
